What is burlesque?

What is Burlesque?

Burlesque is the art of undressing in style, the journey is the goal!

The word "Burlesque", burlesque, actually comes from the theater of the 16th century and described a crude-comic piece and the cartoonist, funny exaggeration of the characters.

For the "Burlesque" entertainment theater in its heyday, the 1920s and 1930s, the elements of variety, revue, circus, vaudeville theater, comedy, song and dance became as important as the actual take - offs of the artists that still exist today always keep some clothes on. But only putting off the gloves could take several minutes and be presented as a humorous-erotic sensation.

Even in Germany there were early forms of burlesque, but here was called "beauty dance".
The term still stands for the humorous, seductive show in the style of the great Parisian revue theaters Moulin Rouge or Folies Bergère. Comedy, striptease and theater unite to a firework of entertainment.

But Burlesque also stands for a certain style, which is based on the US American pin-up girls of the 50s.

The interplay of clothing, shoes, hairstyle and make-up ensures a decidedly feminine look.

This of course includes a corresponding repertoire of gestures and movements from the lascivious hip swing to the meaningful eye impact.

Burelsque celebrates the femininity and beauty of the woman.

"Burlesque is freedom for me, I can be who I want to be and what I want, it's an opportunity to show what I can do and inspire people"

Mdlle. Parfait de la Neige, professional dancer, choreographer and burlesque artist member of the Petits Fours Show and winner of the # 1 Swiss Burlesque Festival 2017
